Answers, competitors and cited sites

After a check you can read every ChatGPT answer, see which brands it names, and see which websites it trusts.

Read a question's answers

  1. Go to Visibility → ChatGPT questions and click a question.
  2. Each tab (Answer 1, Answer 2 …) shows one of ChatGPT's full answers, with your brand and other brands highlighted. A tick on the tab means that answer names you.
  3. On the right:
    • Brands named: each brand's average position (1 = named first), what ChatGPT says about it, and its tone from 0 (warns against it) to 50 (neutral) to 100 (strongly recommends it).
    • Sources: Cited = linked in the answer. Read = opened but not linked. Link broken = that page no longer opens. Names you or Names a competitor tells you what the page itself says.
  4. Details opens the single answer. Earlier lists answers from past checks.

If ChatGPT doesn't name you, use Write article at the top to draft a page that answers the question.

Tip: pages that name a competitor but not you are good places to get listed.

Competitors

Visibility → Competitors lists every brand ChatGPT names, with how many questions and answers name it, average position, how often it is named first, tone, and how ChatGPT describes it.

  • Track adds a brand to Your competitors. Untrack moves it back to Other brands.
  • Hide (or Not a competitor on a suggestion) removes a brand from every report, recommendation and Vedor's answers. Bring it back from the Hidden tab by clicking it.
  • Edit competitors lets you edit the list as name and website pairs, then Save. The website marks their site on Cited sites.
  • After you change the list, click Update recommendations if you want recommendations to use it.

A Look-alike name label means the brand's name reads like yours but it is a different company. It is not counted as you.

Cited sites

Reputation → Cited sites lists every website ChatGPT links to, counted by how many answers cite it.

  • Owner shows whether it is your site, a tracked competitor's, or a third party.
  • Names you? shows whether the cited pages mention you. Competitor only marks a site that names a competitor but not you: these are your best listing targets. Use Show only these to filter to them.
  • Kind of site filters by type: media and blogs, reviews, directories, forums, video, social, reference, companies, public bodies.
  • Open the count in Cited in to see which questions cite the site.

Gotchas

  • All counts come from the latest check of each question.
  • Tracking or hiding brands doesn't need a new check; it only relabels answers you already have.
  • Broken links are left out of the counts.
